Obituary for Amy JoAnn Grantham (Toungate)

Amy JoAnn Toungate Grantham passed away in Luling Texas on May 13, 2022 at the age of 87. She was the eldest of 9 children and helped care for her younger brothers and sisters. In addition to being a homemaker, she also worked at Luling Hospital, Texas Elks Children’s Hospital and was a Private Duty Nurse for numerous clients. She was a force to be dealt with when protecting any of her family members and nothing brought more joy to her than when she was spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.


JoAnn was predeceased by her father, George Ferris Toungate, mother, Bessie Irene Daniels, sister, Lillie Mae Reznicek, and her husband of 68 years, Willie George Grantham.


She is survived by her children, Gary Grantham, Ann Baros, Deborah Garner, Rebecca Behan, and daughter-in-law, Pam Grantham, grandchildren, Michael Baros Jr., Scotty Baros, David Baros, Neil Mueller, Whitney Ingram, Tara Garner, Kelly Galloway, Kimberly Schmidt, Anna Schulle, Angelena Behan, Chrystal Hernandez, 17 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren, and her siblings, Luther Toungate , Edward Toungate, Rickey Toungate, Billy Toungate, Nancy Wood, Betty Holcomb and Judy Grantham.


Visitation will be held at Luling Primitive Baptist Church, 395 Elm Ave (corner of Elm & Hoover St), on Friday, May 20, 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Graveside Service will be held at Jeffrey Cemetery in McMahan on Saturday, May 21, 10:00 a.m. Church Service will follow at Luling Primitive Baptist Church at 11:30 a. m. A meal will be served in the lunchroom after the service.
