Obituary for Catherine Perry Webb (Perry)
Catherine Perry Webb , 97, passed away on Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at Heritage Gardens Rehabilitation and Healthcare in Carrollton, TX. She was born January 8, 1925, in Luling, TX, to Thomas Alonzo Perry and Margaret Callihan Perry. Cathy was a 1942 graduate of Luling High School where she played percussion and was head drum major for the band. Afterward she attended Howard Payne University and earned a business administration degree in 1946. While at Howard Payne she continued her love of music and learned to play the organ.
While working in Odessa, TX, after college, Cathy met James Vernon Webb at church and they married on August 27, 1949, at Central Baptist Church in Luling. Jim worked for Phillips Petroleum his entire career. They lived in Bartlesville, OK, and various places in the US before settling in Borger, TX, in 1958 when their sons started school. When Jim passed away on May 19, 2003, Cathy moved to Carrollton to be closer to family.
Cathy was a very talented musician and faithful Christian. She began piano lessons at five years old and played the piano and organ at several churches. Before moving to Borger, she served as church organist in Pasadena, TX, and Hammond, IN. She was the organist at Calvary Baptist Church in Borger From 1958 until she moved in 2003. At Borger she also played piano for the 4-year-old Sunday School class. Cathy continued to play piano at Woodlake Baptist Church in Carrollton until she could no longer play. She shared her talents with so many over the years, participating in musicals, weddings, funerals, and countless other special occasions.
A loving wife, mother, and grandmother, Cathy is survived by a son, Perry Vernon (and wife, Christina Chisholm) Webb, daughter-in-law Melanie Hendrick Webb (wife of deceased son, James Allen Webb), six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, sister Thomasine Perry Sparks, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Funeral services for Catherine Perry Webb will be at 1:00 PM on 4/30/2022 at Central Baptist Church (cbcluling.com), 515 South Magnolia Avenue, Luling, TX 78648. Burial at Luling Cemetery will follow the service and reception at the church.
