Obituary for Charles Steve Bolton

Charles Steve Bolton of Luling, Texas, died peacefully on Friday, February 2, 2024.
Charles was born on April 9, 1939, to Jacob Steve Bolton and Lois Kathern (Moore) Bolton, in Luling, Texas. He grew up on the family farm in the Community of McNeil. He attended McNeil School and Luling school. In April 1955, Charles enlisted in the Army National Guard for a three-year term enlistment. In March 1957, Private Second Class Bolton was called to active duty for six months of Infantry training at Fort Bliss, Texas. On 8 November 1957, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. His first duty station was Tyndall Air Force Base, Florida, as a ground power and supply equipment repairman. In August 1960, he was reassigned to Kelly Air Force Base, Texas. On 28 May 1962, Charles was relieved from active duty. He earned the Army Good Conduct Medal and the Air Force Longevity Service Award and was Honorably Discharged.
In the Summer of 1958, Charles would meet the love of his life, Charlissa Tieken--it was love at first sight. After a short courtship, the two were married on March 12, 1959, in Gonzales, Texas. They lived in Florida until August 1960 when Charles was reassigned to Kelly Air Force Base, Texas. In the 1970s they moved to the family farm in the Community of McNeil. Charles continued working at Kelly Field until he left Federal Civilian Service. He also worked for Industrial Solvents and Cemex in Austin.
Charles and Charlissa were faithful members of the McNeil Baptist Church. Charles served as a Deacon. He was a loving and devoted husband to Charlissa for 60 years and so determined to care for her, at home, after her unfortunate stroke and subsequent falls over her last years.
Charles is survived by his niece, Debra Luensmann, Charlissa’s sisters, Angelyn (Jeannie) Koenning and Lisetta Tharp (Larry), and sister-in-law Patsy Tieken, brothers-in-law, Harold Tieken (Betty), Donald Tieken, and Dale Tieken (Martha). And, by nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. He is preceded in death by his wife, Charlissa, his parents, his brothers, George and Clayton, and by several of Charlissa’s siblings and in-laws.
Pallbearers – Kary Dean (K. D.) Crowell, Gerald Koenning, Bruce Tieken, Gene Tieken, Gerald Duane Tieken, and Gregg Tieken
Honorary Pallbearers – Bill Bolton, Ray Russell, Milton Shaw, Harold Tieken, Donald Tieken, Dale Tieken, and Rusty Vaughan
