Obituary for Charles Douglas Hamilton

Charles Douglas Hamilton, 81, passed away on May 6, 2022, in Waco, Texas, with his wife,
Kate, by his side.
Charles Douglas Hamilton was born on May 24, 1940, in Luling, Texas, to Charlie Brown
Hamilton and Lurlene Zola Hamilton. As a boy, Doug and his family moved between Houston
and Luling several times. As a young man, Doug enjoyed football, fast cars, and racoon hunting.
He loved classic country music and Elvis. In high school, Doug discovered his love for showing
livestock and a girl named Wilda Kate Blackmon caught his eye. After graduating in 1958, he
joined the Texas Army National Guard, and they were married on August 5, 1960. Doug and
Kate began a family by having the first of 5 children. They went through many moves with his
company of 32 years, ARCO Pipeline. He spent his life raising children and cattle, as well as
being the best dad and granddad in Texas. Doug particularly enjoyed helping his children and
others through Texas 4-H as an adult leader. In 1989, Doug and Kate finally settled in Mexia,
Texas, where they continued to raise kids and cattle. Doug led a faithful life. He and Kate were
members of First Baptist Church of Luling, where Doug was also a deacon. Upon moving to
Mexia, they became active members of First Baptist Church of Mexia.

Doug loved his family, near and far. You were always welcome at his home for any occasion or
just to sit and sip some iced tea in the breezeway and have a talk. His family will miss his
stories, how he never smiled for a picture, and how he could give you just the right advice to
figure out how to help yourself.

Doug was preceded in death by his father, C.B. Hamilton; mother, Lurlene Hamilton; brother,
Larry B. Hamilton; and an infant daughter.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Kate Hamilton; son Charles Thomas Hamilton (Patty
Mundine); daughter Julie Kay Gaston (Larry); sons William David Hamilton (Valerie); Michael
Wayne Hamilton (Debra Cole); Wesley Clint Hamilton (Kimberly); Grandchildren, Alex, Emily,
Elizabeth, Misty, Hank, Hunter, Ashley, Charles, Casey, Christopher, Hayley, McKinzie, and
