In Loving Memory of Dolores Maurine Michael

Dolores Maurine Michael, age 80, passed away peacefully on September 10th, 2023, after bravely fighting dementia for three years. She was born on March 5th, 1943, in Houston, Texas, to her parents Ivan and Cleo Orr. Dolores was the fifth child out of ten in her close-knit family.

During her formative years, Dolores spent much of her childhood in Luling, fondly calling it her home. Later, she made Austin her permanent residence, where she and her beloved husband, Bob, raised their three wonderful children. Throughout her life, nothing held greater importance to Dolores than her family and friends.

Dolores dedicated herself to being a loving mother and a devoted wife. She chose to stay at home to raise their children, creating a warm and nurturing environment. She was also an active member of her children's schools and her local community. Her advocacy for blood donations was well-known, and she tirelessly promoted this cause. Over the years, Dolores donated an astounding 50 gallons of blood to the Central Texas Blood Center in Austin. Her commitment to this vital cause undoubtedly saved countless lives.

Another program Dolores passionately endorsed was Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). With 29 years of sobriety under her belt, she often said, "It works if you work it," followed by the Serenity Prayer. Her unwavering support for AA was an inspiration to many.

Dolores is preceded in death by her parents, Ivan and Cleo, her beloved husband, Robert L. Michael, and her siblings Sylvia, Francis, Ivan, Darlene, Nancy, and Kay, among other cherished loved ones.

She is survived by her devoted daughter, Cristi, and her three children, Keely, Michael and Katie; her son, Robert L. Michael Junior, and his sons, Matthew and Colin; and her son, JJ, his wife Kelly, and their daughters, Hayley and Sydney. Dolores is also survived by her siblings, Linda, Pam, and Ray, along with their respective families and numerous other loved ones.

Dolores Maurine Michael's memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Her legacy of family devotion, community involvement, and unwavering support for important causes will continue to inspire us all. She will be deeply missed.
