Earl Moore-Obituary

Earl Mack Moore passed away on November 13, 2023 at the age of 78 years old.

He was born on November 10, 1945 in Delhi, Texas to Luther Alexander Moore and Gladys Lou Pendleton Moore. He was the youngest of three children, having two older sisters.

Earl attended Luling schools and graduated in 1964. Throughout Earl’s schooling, he gained plenty of knowledge about growing watermelons, as Earl’s dad was a farmer, but upon graduation he decided to take a different career path and went to work at Luling Machine and Iron Works and did some oilfield roughnecking. In 1965, he was drafted by the Army and spent two years in the Army, one in Vietnam serving as a military policeman.

Upon his return in 1967, he went back to work at Luling Machine and Iron Works and Cox Oil Well Service as a welder. Soon after, he met the love of his life, Bernadette, at a dance at the KC Hall in Moulton. He told all his friends, “That’s going to be my wife.” They married in 1972 at the Catholic Church in High Hill, Texas.

After working with various companies, Earl decided to open his own welding business, J.E.B.S, in 1995. Throughout his self-employment, Earl spent time welding for oilfield operations and farmers/ranchers on cattle guards and metal buildings. Earl enjoyed his work and loved to help people and teach them his welding secrets. After fifty plus years of welding, Earl decided that was enough and retired, but still stayed in contact with many of his customers as well as those he taught how to be successful in the business.

Earl was also an avid sports fan and spent hours practicing softball with his daughters and granddaughters and teaching his friends the ins and outs of the game. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, visiting the family watermelon stand, and spending time at the coffee shop with his friends.

Earl is survived by his wife of 51 years, Bernadette Moore, and his two daughters, Jenifer Dawn Moore Watts and husband, Shane Watts of Luling and Sarah “Fred” Moore of Glidden.

He is also survived by three grandchildren, Allyson Watts, Ashlee Watts Nolan and husband Tim and Zackery Watts and girlfriend, Laura Wyrick, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Carrie Mae Williams and Mattie Katherine Marstaller.

Earl will be remembered for his quiet but outspoken attitude and for his ability to make people laugh with his keen stories and sense of humor. If you knew Earl, you know that he did not go anywhere without cracking a joke about something or someone.

Pallbearers for Earl include James Fairchild III, Jason Goodson, Craig Janda, Gregory Janda, Michael Schaefer and Zackery Watts.
Honorary Pallbearers are James Fairchild Jr, Alton Williams, Earl Williams, Eric Schrader, and Bruce WIlson.

Memorial contributions in his honor may be made to any church organization of your choice.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday November 16, 2023 at O’Bannon Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Hall Cemetery
