Obituary for James Goss Kelly

James Goss Kelly, 80, of Luling, passed away Friday, May 7, 2021. He was born August 2, 1940 in Guymon, Oklahoma the son of Adolph Ruhl “George” Kelly and Eugenia Goss Kelly. He attended Southwest Texas State and received a B.S. degree in business. After graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force where he proudly served for 8 years and attained the rank of Captain. He later, joined the U.S. Postal Service and retired after 23 years.
He was a member of the American Legion and the Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed fishing, crossword puzzles and watching college sports, especially collegiate football. He was an accomplished photographer and completed several hours of continuing education in photography.
He is survived by his son Daryl Kelly and wife Christine of McGregor, TX; grandchildren: Omar Lugo, Rose Lugo, Michael Gonzales and Cassidy Kelly; also surviving is his great-granddaughter Elvira Rose Lugo. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Anna Jean Kelly and brother George Kelly.
Interment will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Belmont Cemetery.
Pallbearers include Henry Zamora, Cordell Cardenas, Michael Gonzales, John Goff, Luis Bremauntz and Brian Schauer.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of O’Bannon Funeral Home, 210 S. Laurel, Luling, TX.
