Obituary for Johnny Lopez Maldanado

Johnny Lopez Maldanado, born on January 8, 1948, in Luling, TX, peacefully passed away on March 31, 2024, in Georgetown, TX. He was a loving husband to Maria Sandra Maldanado. Together, they shared a deep and enduring bond of marriage that lasted over a beautiful span of 53 and 1/2 years!

Johnny's greatest joy in life was watching his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren grow. He found immense happiness in their achievements and cherished every moment spent with them. Johnny's children are , son, Gerald Adrian Maldanado and wife, Monica Maldanado, daughters Ursula Denise Botello, and husband Domingo Mark Botello, lastly Jan Marie Perez, and husband Michael Anthony Perez who all will forever carry his memory in their hearts.
Johnny also held a very special place in his heart for his niece Silvia Ann Cortinas and nephew Michael Cortinas and family.


Johnny had a zest for life and a passion for helping others and not to mention for good food. He had a special fondness for BBQ, grilling steaks and Mexican cuisine, and lastly indulging in sweet treats. Johnny's love for food was not only a testament to his taste buds but also a reflection of his vibrant spirit.

Grandchildren are: Jonathan and Mark Botello, Michael and Gabriel Perez, Gerald Adrian II, Jon Andrew Maldanado and Vincent Maldanado, granddaughters Adrianna, Alydia, Margaret and Olivia Maldanado
Great grandchildren are, Levi, Lily, Lane and Luke Botello, Emmanuel and Catalina Meza followed by Angel and Sophia Molina addition to his immediate family, Johnny is survived by his brothers Louis, Domingo, Tony and David Maldanado, as well as his sister Annie Trevino. Their shared memories and bond as siblings will continue to be cherished.

Proceeding Johnny in death are parents. Mother Anita and father Joe Maldanado.
Brothers Joe “little Joe” and Frank Maldanado and beloved sister Vivian Vega.

Johnny Lopez Maldanado will be remembered for his love, kindness, big heart and devotion to his family. His legacy will live on in the hearts of all those who had the privilege of knowing him.

Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Tuesday April 9, at O’Bannon Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday April 10 at O’Bannon Funeral Home, 210 S. Laurel, Luling, TX 78648 with Pastor Jonathan Botello officiating. Burial will follow in the Community Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Mark Botello Jr, Michael Perez Jr, Gabriel Perez, Michael Trevino, Andrew Maldanado, & Michael Cortinas. Honorary Pallbearers will be Olivia Maldanado, & Marisol Trevino.
