Obituary for Carol

Lilly Carol O’Banion know by her friends as Carol was born in Sweeny, Texas on December 24, 1941 to Bryan and Birdie O’Banion. She was married to (Franklin) Duane Otto on July 24, 1959 in Bastrop Texas.
Carol was a hairdresser for more than 50 years and spent many of those years working weekends to fix hair at nursing homes. Carol enjoyed nature and wildlife, she loved visiting state parks throughout Texas and was proud to be an employee of Texas Parks and Wildlife where she worked to edit and proof wildlife educational materials and state park brochures until she retired. She also enjoyed working with young people and worked for 11 years at Gary Job Corps training students to learn an administrative trade.
Carol is survived by her husband of 60 years, Duane Otto; children Connie and Ronnie Gilkey, Kimberly and Teddy Grabarkewitz, Jennifer and Kenneth Zumwalt and Jimmy Otto; grandchildren Robert and Brittany Johnson, Kristyn and Brian Ricketts, Ronnie and Amy Gilkey, Cody Gilkey, Tyler Grabarkewitz, Lacey Bohanan, Trevor Grabarkewitz, Rylee Grabarkewitz, Jarred Zumwalt, Wesley Zumwalt, Casey Otto, Brice Otto, Christopher Otto, Jonathan Otto and Natalie Otto; great grandchildren Gracy Ricketts, Brian Ricketts, Wyatt Ricketts, Tatum Grabarkewitz, Gentry Johnson; brother Billy and Barbara O’Banion. She is preceded in death by her parents and two brothers Max and Jimmy O’Banion.

Visitation will be Saturday, August 3, 3:00-5:00 pm and services will be held on Sunday, August 4 at the First Christian Church at 2:00 pm with graveside immediately following at the Luling City Cemetery
