Obituary for Loudie Bell Johnson (Johnston)

Loudie Bell Johnson passed from this world on November 19, 2022. She was born November 22, 1938, in Galveston, TX to parents Reginald Lee Johnston and Edna Bell Johnston and joined her brother, Reginald Lee Johnston Jr. Her father worked in the oilfield until his death in 1947, so the family followed the oil rigs and moved frequently. After her father’s death, they moved back to her mother’s hometown of Luling, TX and eventually to San Antonio, TX.
Loudie graduated from Burbank High School in 1957 where she was active in the Future Homemakers of America and Orange Jackets. She married her high school sweetheart Larry Jene Johnson in 1958, had two sons, Larry Jene Johnson Jr. and Joseph Lee Johnson, and the family lived in San Antonio and Houston. Loudie worked for a short time at Kelly Air Force Base as a key punch operator before deciding to stay home to raise her sons. After she divorced in 1971, she started working again for the USAF in a civilian capacity. She held various positions at Lackland, Kelly, and SARPMA in personnel management until her retirement in 1994.
Loudie enjoyed travelling with her dear friends Pat Hyatt and Annalee Bridges. She made many lifelong friends as a member of the Old Chisholm Trail Riders, and volunteering at San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo for over 15 years as a lifetime member.
Loudie was preceded in death by her parents Reginald Lee and Edna Johnston and her brother Reggie Johnston. She is survived by her sons Larry Johnson, his wife Pam, Joseph Johnson and his wife Kerri. Loudie was very proud of her five grandchildren, Kelsey Wright, Taylor Johnson, Dylan Johnson, Jacy Swann and Alyssa Johnson and her great-granddaughter, Leighton Wright.
The visitation will be held at 11:00 a.m. on November 26, 2022, at O’Bannon Funeral Home, 210 S Laurel in Luling, TX. The funeral will begin at 2:00 p.m., with internment at Luling City Cemetery. Pallbearers are Ricky Hyatt, Bobby Hyatt, Dylan Johnson, Michael James, Tyler Wright and Joseph Swann.
