Obituary for Mackie Boyce Rader

Mackie B. Rader, age 83, of Luling, Texas died Monday June 15, 2020. He was born on November 26, 1936 in Kingsbury, Texas to Melvin and Cleo Rader.

Mackie lived most of his life in and around Luling. He graduated from Luling High School in 1955.

On December 13, 1957 he married Peggy Waller of Fentress, Tx and together they made their home in Austin, Texas. For 35 years “Mack” worked as a sales representative for the Elgin-Butler Brick Company. He was a member of the “Southern Brick Institute” and the “Austin Chapter of Associated General Contractors of America.”

A devout Christian, he was raised in the McNeil Baptist Church and joined the United Methodist Church in Austin, Cypress and Luling.

After retiring, Mackie and Peggy moved to Cypress, Texas where he worked for 12 years as a greeter for Walmart. In 2016 they made Luling their final residence.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his son Philip and daughter Suzanne Rader.

Mackie is survived by his wife Peggy, sister-in-law Janell Webb, brother-in-law Brownie Webb, many cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends. We will all miss his master storytelling, kind heart and love for the University of Texas Longhorns and the Houston Astros.
