Obituary for Margaret Elizabeth Chamness (Epperhart)

Margaret Epperhart Chamness went home to be with the lord on 01-22-2024.

Margaret was born in Luling, Texas on January 12, 1934 to B and Lillie Casey Epperhart.

She graduated from Luling High School in May 1952 where she was very active with singing for high school activities, church and civic functions.
Margaret attended southwest Texas State Teachers College where she majored in music. She was a member of the SWTSTC choir and touring choir.
Margaret married her childhood sweetheart, the love of her life, Franklin Chamness on December 20, 1953. They had three children, Frank, Donna and David. The family lived in Luling until 1964 when they moved to San Antonio, Texas where Franklin accepted a job at Brooks Air Force base as a research Chemist.
Margaret worked in Real estate and then for a law firm until she retired in 1986. They planned to travel when Franklin retired in 1992. Unfortunately, their plans were never fulfilled. Franklin passed away on October 31, 1995.
Margaret joined the Parkhills Baptist Church in 1997. She was active with the singles group, and sang in the church choir. She enjoyed having dinner parties at her home for her children, grandchildren, and church friends.
She was deeply involved with her 1952 graduating class, planning their class reunions for 30 years. She loved working in the yard, sewing, and playing the piano.
Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers, Horace Epperhart and wife Joyce, Leo Epperhart and wife Marguerite, Sister, Martha Stotts and husband Doniece. She is survived by her children Frank and wife Becky Chamness, Donna and husband Dan Cifers, David and wife Lisa Chamness. Grandchildren, Lesley and husband Justin Horton, Hailey and Husband Adam Frazier, Daniel Chamness, Jason and wife Tenesha Chamness, Casey and husband Eric Del Castillo. Grandchildren Kassidy and Briggs Horton, Soren, Isaac, Jonathan, Ariston Frazier, Kaden, Kyler, Kamdyn, Karson Chamness and Logan Del Castillo. Sister-in-law Betty Chamness. Nieces Beverly and husband Philip Richardson, Connie Stotts Chapman, Debra Channel, Denise Germer, nephews Terry Epperhart, David and wife Patricia Epperhart, Dana and Melanie Chamness, Mike Chamness and Chad Chamness. Viewing will be at O’Bannon funeral home at 210 S Laurel on Saturday January 27th at 9:00am. Graveside service at 11:00am at the Luling City Cemetery. Pallbearers are Frank Chamness, David Chamness, Jason Chamness and Justin Horton. Cody Haywood from Parkhills Baptist Church officiating.
