Obituary for Martha b Gonzales (Hernandez)

Our beloved matriarch Martha Benavides Gonzales (Hernandez), of Prairie Lea, TX was born
on the 26th of October, 1944 in Luling, TX to parents Felipe and Guadalupe (Benavides)
Hernandez. She was raised in Ottine, TX. She married Gonzalo T. Gonzales on August 14th,
1968. In unity they birth to two children Belinda A. Gonzales and Gonzalo T. Gonzales Jr.
She was a devoted military wife and mother. During her family’s time stationed abroad she
enjoyed touring many places in Europe. She was known for her hospitality and famous home
cooking. She welcomed all into her home with a smile on her face and a warm hug. She made
many lifelong friends throughout her time here. She enjoyed arts and crafts, sewing, and loved
going dancing. Martha’s favorite pastime was spending time with her many grandchildren and
great-grandchildren.
Martha is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Gonzalo T. Gonzales, her Brother,
Simon Hernandez, and son, Robert Hernandez.
She is survived by her long-time partner, Daniel Martinez, half sister, Yolanda Hernandez
(Lockhart, Texas) and children Belinda A. Gonzales (Fentress, Texas) and Gonzalo T. Gonzales
II (Prairie Lea, Texas); and Belinda’s husband, Rudy J. Gonzales (Fentress, Texas) and
children, Krystan E. Ingram and spouse Clifford L. Ingram (Luling, Texas), Jeremy S. Gonzales
and spouse Samantha L. S. Gonzales (Carrollton, Texas), Matthew R. Gonzales Kircus and
spouse Johnathan T. Gonzales Kircus (Buda, Texas), and Mia J. Gonzales; and Gonzalo’s
children, Gonzalo “Trey” T. Gonzales III (Carlsbad, New Mexico) and Steven M. Gonzales
(Irving, Texas); and Robert’s children, Kimberley Hernandez (Luling, Texas), Kerri Ann
Hernandez (Luling, Texas), and Robert J. Hernandez (Lampasas, Texas); and
great-grandchildren by Krystan, Holden R. Eddleton, Bryntleigh A. Ingram, Kynsleigh F. Ingram,
and Elleigh J. Ingram; and by Kimberley, Isaiah Davila and Josaiah Davila; and by Kerri Ann,
Joana and Julie Tovar.
Martha’s burial services will be held Wednesday, February 1st, 2023, at O'bannon Funeral
Home. Immediate family viewing will begin at 11:00 AM, viewing to family and friends will begin
at 12:00 PM, and funeral services will begin at 1:00 PM. Martha will be buried at St. John’s
Cemetery in Luling, Texas.
