Obituary for Mary Jo Greenough (Allen)

Mary Jo Greenough, 82, formerly of Round Rock, Texas, passed away Thursday, October 29, 2020. She was born Oct. 21, 1938, in Luling, Texas.

Mary Jo, Jo, Mom, Mimi or Ralph, depending on how you knew her, retired from the State of Texas Comptroller Office. She always had a cup of coffee in hand and a smile on her face. She loved the color purple, hot air balloons and gatherings. Her life was full of arts and crafts activities, and adventures with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her sister in law, Alice Allen, her children Chuck Barton (Michele), Bob Barton (Dee Dee), Deb Lowden (Darrel), and Travis Barton (Amy). She is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

Mary Jo is preceded in death by husband, Jerry Greenough; her parents, Virgil and Betty Allen; and her siblings Jack Nixon (Mildred), Joy Benier (Kenneth), and Bud Allen.

Services will take place Sunday, Nov.1, 2020. The 2 p.m. visitation is open to friends following COVID guidelines at O’Bannon’s Funeral Home located at 210 S. Laurel Ave., Luling, Texas, 78648. The funeral will be for immediate family only, but the service will be available online at O'Bannnon Funeral Home.com. below the obituary. The graveside service will be at approximately 3:45 p.m. and open to all friends and family practicing social distancing, which will take place at Luling City Cemetery located at 1800 E Pierce St., Luling, Texas, 78648.
