Obituary for MARY LOVE WHITTINGTON (LOVE)

Mary Love Whittington of Seawillow, Texas, 95, passed away peacefully on March 30, 2021 at Hays Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in San Marcos, Texas.
She was born April 15, 1925 in Corsicana, Texas to Walter R. and Modena (Miller) Love. She graduated from Athens High School in 1942 before attending the University of Texas at Austin where she met the love of her life Dick Whittington. Mary worked as a medical laboratory technician before retiring to become a fulltime homemaker.

Her varied interests included camping, gardening, bird watching, collecting seashells, doing volunteer work, and watching her favorite UT sports teams. She spent the last 34 years enjoying her beautiful home in the country surrounded by the outdoors she loved. She was a member of the Luling Church of Christ.
Mary leaves behind to cherish her memory her beloved husband of sixty-nine years Dick; son Mark and wife Tinh Whittington; daughter Carol Whittington; granddaughters Thao Mai and Oahn Nguyen and great-grandson Khai Sikors, of Austin. Mary is predeceased by her parents and brothers Thomas, Will and John Love. In addition, she leaves behind nieces, nephews and numerous other loving family members and friends.

The family would like to extend special thanks to caregivers Janie Ortiz and Diana Anzaldua who cared for Mary in her final years as well as the nursing staff at Christus Hospice and Hays Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

A visitation will be held on Monday, April 5, 2021 from 2-4 p.m. at O’Bannon Funeral Home, 210 S. Laurel, in Luling. A private graveside ceremony for immediate family members will be conducted at the Whittington Cemetery in Devers, Texas.
