Obituary for Patricia Ann Jackson (Matthew)
In Loving Memory of Patricia A. “Pat” Jackson
February 25, 1939 - February 19, 2024
It is with love and compassion that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend who passed away at the age of 84 in the early evening on Monday 2/19/2024 at Diversicare Nursing Home in Luling, Texas.
Pat was born on February 25, 1939, in Luling, Texas, to Hayden Walker Matthew and Ada Elizabeth (Moses) Matthew.
She graduated in 1957 from Boling High School, Boling, Texas. Pat had a long employment career which included working for Philco-Ford in the typing pool. This was in support of contract work for NASA during some Apollo Missions and the development of the Skylab space station. She went to work for the City of Luling in 1978 as the City Secretary. Her civic work continued for the City of Leander in the mid-eighties until she returned to Luling as the acting Assistant City Manager. She retired from civic duties with the Texas Municipal Retirement System (TMRS) in 1999.
She is survived by her sons, Bryan K. Jones and wife, Lea; and Chris V. Jones and wife, Dee Dee;
her brother, Charles Matthew; her granddaughters, Laney Jones and Maura Jones; her grandsons, Leo Arevalo and Christian Arevalo; and great grandchildren, Alliyah Arevalo and Aela Arevalo.
She is preceded in death by her parents; by brothers, Jerry Matthew, Jay Lee Matthew, and Bobby Gene Matthew; and sister, Linda Matthew Jones.
Funeral services are at 10:00 am on February 23, 2024, at Luling City Cemetery, with O’Bannon Funeral Home handling all arrangements.
Honorary Pallbearers are Leo Arevalo, Christian Arevalo, Jimmie Lynn Moses, Eddie Moses, Frank Clark, Jim McNeal, Craig Nickells, Jamie Nickells, Walter Nickells, Preston Moses, Thomas McNeal, Lembo Allen, and Zac Allen.
The family would like to thank the staff, nurses, attendants, doctors, and pastors at Diversicare Nursing Home, Luling, Texas, and Bridgeway Hospice.
