Obituary for Patricia Lynn Murphy (Murphy)

Patricia Lynn Murphy, age 68, a life-long resident of San Antonio entered eternal rest on October 2, 2022, after a short battle with COPD. Patricia was born on May 21, 1954, in San Antonio, Texas, the third child of Virgie (Engelke) and Mack Murphy.
She was a 1972 graduate of Douglas Mac Arthur High School. For over 20 years Patricia was a valued employee of Broadway Bank in San Antonio. Patricia had a huge heart and a big soul. She thoroughly enjoyed working in her yard and taking care of her plants. Each year she made sure to have her hummingbird feeders ready for the annual migration. Patricia had a soft spot for stray cats and adopted many over the years. When visiting, family members would often return home with one of her kittens. Her mother, Virgie, adopted her beloved Kitty Cat from Patricia. Like many of the Murphy women, Patricia was a wonderful cook. Among her specialties were potato salad, cornbread stuffing (just like Mama’s), and her favorite cheesecake. Patricia especially loved eating barbeque, relaxing, and enjoying the view at the river house on the Guadalupe River. She enjoyed collecting Tiffany lamps and watching old Jerry Lewis and Shirley Temple movies. One of Patricia’s favorite memories was a trip she and Frank took to New York.
Patricia is survived by her partner, Frank Blackmon, her children, Melisa Murphy and Derek Murphy, and grandson, Charlie Mack Murphy, her sister, Cindy Murphy (Todd Sturts), her brothers, Mike (Betsy) Murphy, Douglas Murphy, Gregory (Taunya) Murphy, Jeffrey (Tammy) Murphy, as well as a large extended family. Patricia was preceded in death by her parents Mack and Virgie Murphy.
A graveside service will be held at Kingsbury Cemetery on Saturday, October 15, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. Address: 464 County Rd 232 (Prairie Lea Road) Kingsbury, TX 78638
