Obituary for Phillip Mark Batey

Phillip Mark Batey was born on April 2, 1942 to Henry Batey and Alice Kern Batey in Comaltown, a little place in New Braunfels, Tx. He gained his angel wings on March 8, 2024 at the beautiful in home care of Jim and Dee Overeynder.

Phillip and Patty moved to Montana in the spring of 1992. They always wanted to live in the mountains. They lived there for 5 years before family called them back home. Phillip loved his work in Road Construction. He was a dozer operator for Pat Baker Co., Alvin Saur Construction, and L. D. Krause Construction, before he started his own dozer service which he retired from.

Phillip married Patty Jean Oliver on September 3, 1960 after meeting at Gruene Hall. They loved to dance, and they both loved volleyball, playing 42 and 9 pin bowling. Phillip and Patty were always up for a fun game of softball with the kids of Kingsbury. There house was always a revolving door of kids, because everyone always gathered there. Phillip also loved to hunt. He raised coon hounds for some years, and you could often find him on a Saturday night out with jis father-in-law, T. C. Oliver and Happy Henry hunting coons with their dogs. He was always ready for dove and deer season and he loved to fish and trap. To say he loved the outdoors would be an understatement. Phillip loved his family and friends and loved spending time with them. He always had a joke or a story to share with his friends. He was so loved by many
He is survived by his children, Crystal & Doyle Burt, Michelle & Robert Magee, Allen Mark Batey. His sisters, Mary Alice & Bill Batey Brasuel , Katie May & Gaylan Batey, and Barbara June & Mike Henk. 5 grandchildren, Bobbie Jo & Dominic D’Antonio, Joshua & Jennifer Burt, Jeremiah & Ashleigh Burt, McKenzie Courtney, and Morgan Courtney. 16 greatgrandchildren, 10 great greatgrandchildren, and to many nieces and nephews to count.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Patty Jean Oliver Batey. Son, Damon Wayne Batey, grandson, Jason Mark Burt. His parents, five brothers, Virgil, Charlie, Howard, Franklin, and Kenneth Batey. 1 Sister Jo Annie Batey.

Pallbearers will be Joshua Burt, Daulton Burt, Jimmy Burt, Bobby Burt, Jeff Oliver, & Cody Breest.

Graveside Funeral Services will be held Friday March 15, 2024 at 2:00 PM in the Kingsbury Cemetery, in Kingsbury, Texas.
