Richard Warner Stephens, 57, of Luling, Texas passed away suddenly on July 30, 2020. Richard was born on April 27, 1963 in Lockhart, Texas and was the son of Bruce and Mary Ann James Stephens. Richard attended Lockhart High School, graduating in 1981. After high school, he attended Texas State Technical College in Waco, TX where he learned to be a welder. After many years in that profession, Richard became a van line owner/operator, most recently with A-1 Freeman Moving & Storage, and made a living moving people from house to house, state to state.

Richard loved his family and spent time following his children in their pursuits. He spent many years on the Little League board and served as a beloved coach and mentor. Richard picked up golf later than most and developed a real love for the game. He also served on the board of the Luling Golf Course Association for a time. What Richard loved most was spending time with his family, especially his granddaughters Libby and Charlotte. He could tell a good joke, was a great story teller, and always had time for a friend. He was a kind man, a gentle soul, and will be missed greatly.

Richard is survived by his daughter Whitney Kolar, son Jonathan Stephens, granddaughters Elisabeth Goodman and Charlotte Kolar, niece Emily (Matt) Reynolds and their children Khloie and Camden Reynolds. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Patty Stephens, son Justin Murray, sister Pamela Stephens Eaker, and his parents, Bruce and Mary Ann Stephens. The family thanks all who have provided support and offered prayers and love during this difficult time.
