Obituary for Rose Marie McGlothlin (Nixon)

Rose Marie Nixon McGlothlin went to her eternal rest on February 3, 2022. She was born on October 1, 1931, to JT and Carrie Nixon.
Rose grew up in the Baytown, Texas area. At an early age, she began playing the piano for her father’s Gospel quartet and the Trinity Tabernacle in Baytown.
Upon high school graduation Rose worked at Humble/Exxon Refinery as a secretary.

Rose met her husband and the love of her life, Raymond, and they were married on June 18, 1954. She worked many years to help put Raymond through college.
Upon their move to Houston, Rose taught piano to several students and volunteered countless hours at Memorial Hermann Hospital.
Rose and Raymond enjoyed traveling across the country, as well as overseas. They also enjoyed spending time at their home in Lake City, Colorado.

When they moved to Luling in 2001, she became a dedicated volunteer and sat on the board at the Luling Oil Museum. Rose was also on the committee to raise funds for the Seton Care A Van. As a couple, Rose and Ray were always civic minded and participated in events like Night in Old Luling and the Watermelon Thump.

She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years; their son, Stan and daughter in law, Jeanne, of New Braunfels; grandsons Preston (her Angel) and wife, Meagan, of Dallas and Brett (her Sweetie Pie) of Cincinnati; her sister and Brother in law, Beverly and Don Hoxworth , Sister in law, Esther Coggin and many nieces, nephews, and great nieces, nephews and extended family and dear friends.

Pallbearers will be Preston McGlothlin, Brett McGlothlin, Kris Wingeart, Caleb Wade, Tyler Hoxworth, and Corbett Hoxworth.

Visitation will be Monday, February 7 from 5-7pm at O’Bannon Funeral Home, 210 S Laurel Ave., Luling Texas. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, February 8, at 11:00am at the Family Worship Center, located at 1155 N Magnolia Ave, Luling, Texas, officiated by Scott Hoxworth.

Memorial donations can be made to the Luling Oil Museum.
