Obituary for Ruby Lee White (Gross)

Ruby Lee White, 75, of Luling, went to be with our Lord on Saturday, October 19, 2019. Ruby was born November 9, 1943 in Kerrville to A.L. “Doc” Gross and Ruby Sampley Gross. She married Glynn Davis White on May 6, 1959 in Kerrville. She was a member of the McNeil Baptist Church, a member of the International Institute of Municipal Clerks, a lifetime member of the Capital chapter of Municipal Clerks and Secretaries, serving as President of the State Association in 1999 and was elected Secretary of the Year of the State Association in 2001, and she was a longtime volunteer at Seton Edgar B. Davis Memorial Hospital.
Ruby was born and raised in Kerrville and has lived in Pecos, Bandera and Boerne, Texas. While living in Boerne, Ruby gave her life to the Lord at the First Baptist Church of Boerne. She moved to Luling in 1981 when she went to work for the City of Luling where she worked for the next 25 years as City Secretary, retiring February 28, 2006. Ruby was well known for her volunteer work at Seton Edgar B. Davis Hospital. She will be remembered most for being a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Ruby loved life and she will be missed by all who knew her.
Ruby Lee White is survived by her loving family, daughters and sons-in-law, Glenda and Marcus Thrash of Mineola, Sharon and Fernando Anguiano of Ennis, brother and sister-in-law, Eddie and Mary Baker of Ingram, grandchildren, J.D. Murray and wife Laura of Luling, Robert Mata and wife Susan of El Paso, Sanessa Mata Ortiz and husband Salvador of Ennis, A.J. Anguiano and Felissa Anguiano of Ennis, 12 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sisters, Betty Dutton, Nora Mire and Ruby Hale, brothers, Bill and Curly Wilson and Lucky Gross.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday evening, October 25, 2019 in O’Bannon Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10 am Saturday, October 26, 2019 in McNeil Baptist Church with Rev. Rick Perkins officiating. Interment will follow in McNeil Cemetery. Pallbearers: Salvador Ortiz, J.D. Murray, Robert Mata, Fernando Anguiano, Jr., Chris Powell and Richard Slaughter. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or McNeil Baptist Church.
