Walter Lewis Allen, Jr. died September 26, 2022 in Austin, Texas. He was born December 22, 1938 to Mary Jane Allen and Walter Lewis Allen, Sr in San Antonio, Texas. He was the oldest of two children. He graduated from Luling High School in 1957 and Attended college at S.W.T.S.T.C. ( now T.S.U) during 1957, 1958, & 1959 in San Marcos, Texas. He married Edna Filip of Gonzales, Texas on December 3, 1960 in Gonzales, Texas. The family moved to Austin in 1965 and were members of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He was a member of the Society of St, Vincent de Paul for almost 50 years. He was a social Worker and Asst. Director of Caritas of Austin from the mid- 1970 to the mid- 1980’s. He was honorably discharged from the US Army National Guard on August 23, 1963 & was attached to the 141 st. Infantry, 36th Division, 3rd Battalion, Company C.

He is survived by his wife Edna F. Allen, 1 son, Walter III of AUSTIN, Texas and 1 brother, Michael Allen of Austin, and 1 nephew, Tim Allen of Dallas, Texas, and numerous cousins, nephews & nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Walter Allen, Sr. & nephew Mike Allen, Jr. Grandparents, Ella & Floyd Mooney.

Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday October 1, 2022 at the Luling Cemetery under the direction of O’Bannon Funeral Home.
